INDICATIONS

Treatment of stable type 2 diabetes mellitus, non-insulin dependent, in adult patients without a tendency to ketosis and which is not controlled by diet. As monotherapy or in combination with metformin.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to glimepiride or other sulfonylureas, diabetic ketoacidosis. Its administration is also not recommended during pregnancy and lactation. In patients with fever, infections, trauma, burns, or surgery, it may be necessary to replace it with insulin. Take precautions in cases of liver or kidney dysfunction. It interacts with several medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics, beta-adrenergic blockers and chloramphenicol, which increase its hypoglycemic effect; and with adrenaline, corticosteroids, thiazide-type diuretics, and fluoroquinolones that reduce their hypoglycemic effect. It is not a substitute for insulin.
