INDICATIONS

Edema caused by cardiac, liver or kidney dysfunctions; edema caused by burns; mild to moderate hypertension; hypertensive crises; acute heart failure; chronic renal failure (including terminal); renal failureIt is indicated in adults and pediatric patients for the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease, including nephrotic syndrome. Furosemide is particularly useful when acute rhinitis; nephrotic syndrome. It helps in forced diuresis in cases of poisoning. It is an agent with a greater diuretic potential. Hypertension: Furosemide can be used in adults for the treatment of hypertension, alone or in combination with other hypertensive agents. Hypertensive patients who cannot be adequately controlled with thiazides will probably not be adequately controlled with furosemide alone.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Furosemide is contraindicated in patients with anuria and in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug. Administration of furosemide should be discontinued during the treatment of severe progressive renal disease if increasing zooemia and oliguria occur.
